Hilton Head in November is the off season, though the island’s substantial permanent population keeps things lively year-round.
If you are not looking for a beach-oriented vacation, this is a great month to visit. Crowds are generally non-existent and accommodation is cheaper, but there is still almost the full range of activities and things to do, and usually beautiful weather.
November is the month of several of Hilton Head’s most popular annual events, including the Hilton Head Oyster Festival and the Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival, and there is also the Book Festival over at nearby Bluffton. Other events this month include seasonal festivals and food events, the annual Bridge Run and Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, and the start of the holiday events season.
The weather generally remains very good through November, with highs often reaching into the mid to upper 70s, and plenty of sunshine most days. Although most southerners find it far too cold to swim, hardier people can often still enjoy the beach and ocean through the end of the month.
Even without the beach, there are plenty of other things to do in Hilton Head in November: golf, biking, hiking at the local wildlife refuge and nature preserves, and even kayaking or paddleboarding on the warmer days. In the case of colder weather or rain, there is also a variety of indoor activities and historic attractions, on Hilton Head Island itself or in nearby Bluffton, Beaufort or Savannah.
