Hilton Head in February is usually quiet. Excepting the days around President’s Day weekend, visitor numbers are still low, with most vacationers holding off for the more consistently warmer weather of spring. If you are looking for a winter break, accommodation discounts are sometimes possible to find this month, especially for stays of at least a week.
A popular February event is the Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival. Other events this month include a marathon and half marathon, Restaurant Week, and the month-long Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration, offering a series of events focused on the food, music, history and culture of the coastal Gullah people.
The weather in Hilton Head in February can be unpredictable. Although it’s possible to experience temperatures in the 70s or 80s, this is not guaranteed. Average highs typically fall in the 50s and 60s, and some days can be even cooler. A week-long visit could just as easily result in cold and rainy weather as in warm, sunny days reaching the 80s.
Most of Hilton Head’s attractions are available in February, although daily activities may depend on the weather conditions.
On warmer days, outdoor pursuits like golfing, tennis, bike rentals, fishing charters, and dolphin tours are ideal. On colder or rainy days, there are plenty of indoor options, including visits to the Coastal Discovery Museum or local art galleries, shopping and dining, or museums and historic sites in nearby Bluffton, Beaufort, or Savannah.
