October is an excellent month to visit Hilton Head Island, with warm weather and no crowds. Almost everything is open, and it is easy to get restaurant reservations and find accommodation at good rates. Together with May and September, October is considered one of the best times of the year to visit.
The weather in October is generally very good: most days are warm and sunny, without the heat and humidity of summer. The only downside is that hurricanes and tropical storms are a risk throughout the fall months, and can make for some fairly windy and wet days even if the South Carolina coast is not directly impacted.
There are many things to do in Hilton Head in October. This is a great time of year for bike riding, mini golf, full-size golf, and other outdoors activities, including water-based sports such as kayaking and paddleboarding. Boat trips and dolphin tours are another way to enjoy the wildlife and scenery of the lowcountry.
The area also offers many historic attractions, from African-American history tours on Hilton Head Island and St Helena Island to historic forts, museums, and the downtown historic districts of Savannah, Bluffton and Beaufort.
