Hilton Head Cat (Compact Catamaran) Tours

A fun, exciting way to see the scenery and wildlife of the creeks and waterways around Hilton Head is to take a tour on a compact catamaran powerboat.

Designed to seat two people, these little boats offer speeds of around 30mph and a low seating position that gets you closer to the water and to the dolphins and other wildlife you might see.

Several local tour companies offer cat tours of the waterways around Hilton Head, generally covering a distance of about 25-30 miles and seeing many of the sights on Hilton Head and Daufuskie Islands and the network of salt marshes and creeks nearby.

These tours differ from the regular boat tours on offer in the Hilton Head area in that the tour guide rides in their own boat and participants follow, which requires each 2-person boat to have an adult driver.

They are also somewhat more expensive than standard boat tours, offering in return more distance covered, a more exciting experience and an often closer look at the local wildlife.
