Hilton Head’s miles of waterways and beautiful scenery are one of the island’s main attractions. A wide selection of public boat tours are available from Hilton Head Island, catering to a range of interests and budgets. If you want more flexibility in your trip, however, or prefer a private excursion, another option is to charter or rent a boat.

A boat charter is the easiest, but most expensive, option: a captained boat that you can hire for anywhere from an hour up to a full day. The charter company can produce an itinerary with you to include any specific sights or locations. Most charters cater to groups of up to six people, but larger boats are also available.

If you have boating experience, it is also possible to rent a boat, with most options being for either a pontoon boat (more stable and with more seating and storage area but less maneuverable) or a deck boat (sometimes faster, and usually more maneuverable, but less stable and less convenient for some entertaining).
