One of the best ways to get to know a place is through its food. Though not yet so well known a culinary destination as other southern cities such as Charleston, Savannah still has a lot to offer, from classic southern-style cooking to its own local specialties and traditional institutions.
About a half dozen, mostly walking, tours offer an introduction to Savannah’s cuisine and food culture, with some history and usually samples from several local establishments.
A few other tours explore the city’s drink and bar culture, again generally including some local history and drinks. Tours focused on regional craft beers are also available.
Most of Savannah’s guided crawls are given under the guise of ghost tours, visiting the city’s drinking venues that are reputed to be haunted. The few that are intended to be more general are listed below. Please note that drinks are not usually included in the tour price in the case of pub and bar crawls.
Pets Dogs are not usually allowed on food or drink tours; any exceptions are noted.
Age and ID restrictions on alcohol You must be 21 or older to purchase alcohol in the United States. On Savannah’s drinking tours, ID is always required.
