Savannah In May

Spanish moss hanging in front of a row of historic townhouses in Savannah, GA.

Savannah in May is sunny and very warm, with average highs in the mid 80s (see more about Savannah’s May weather). If you prefer cooler weather for sightseeing, travel in the earlier months of spring, or wait until the fall.

Things to do in Savannah in May include the Savannah Scottish Games, SCAD’s Sand Arts Festival over at Tybee Island, the popular Seafood Fest on River Street, and the annual Doggie Carnival.

There is also the full range of regular Savannah events to enjoy throughout the month, from farmers markets and art events to bar crawls, shows and special themed events at the city’s tourist attractions.

Memorial Day weekend is especially busy in both Savannah and Tybee Island, and crowds are common. Families flock to the beach over this weekend, so set out early if you want to beat the traffic out to Tybee.
