Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge Tours
Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, located just inland of Hilton Head, is a beautiful wildlife preserve of over 4000 acres, with salt marsh, tidal creek and maritime forest environments plus open fields and freshwater ponds providing a home to a wide array of wildlife and birds.
The refuge is open daily to the public, with several miles of nature trails open to hiking and biking, and most people who visit the refuge do so independently.
If you prefer, however, local tour companies offer several excursions into the refuge by kayak or boat, providing a different perspective to a visit on land, and the opportunity to get closer up to its wetland environments and wildlife.
Guided walking tours are also available exploring the refuge’s birds and environment.
