Things To Do In Tybee Island In September

Tybee Island in September is much quieter than during the summer months, with crowds usually dying down after Labor Day. The weather is still hot and perfect for the beach, making this a great time to visit if you are not tied to school vacation periods.

The average daily high temperature this month is in the mid 80s (around 30°C), with slightly cooler mornings and evenings than the hottest parts of the summer. Rain is possible, often mostly confined to brief afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms.

Tybee Island events in September include the annual Labor Day Beach Bash and the Tybee Equality Fest. A farmers market operates weekly at the Tybee Island Lighthouse, and there are usually also several musical and other performances scheduled this month.

Other things to do in Tybee Island in September include all the island’s water sports offerings, local attractions such as Fort Pulaski or the Tybee Island Lighthouse, or day trips to nearby Savannah.

Dolphin-watching boat tours are another popular activity, or you could take a trip to adjacent, undeveloped Little Tybee Island or to Wassaw Island a little further down the coast.
