Tybee Island in October is perfect for outdoor activities. The weather is typically warm and sunny during the day, cooling off in the evenings. The weather can still be good for the beach too: although some people find the water a bit cold, October is often warm enough for sunbathing and other beach activities.
The island can get busy around the weekend of the popular Pirate Fest, but October in Tybee Island is otherwise usually quiet and peaceful, with accommodation rates a little lower than during the peak season.
The Tybee Island Pirate Fest is Tybee ’s biggest October event, and the Tybee ICE Run and car show is also usually held this month. Tybee Island’s farmers market should still be running through October, and there are often also several musical or other performances scheduled during this month.
There are plenty of other things to do in Tybee Island in October. The weather is usually just right for kayaking, or boat tours, with the possibility of trips to Little Tybee Island, a secluded nature reserve just south of Tybee beach or to other nearby barrier islands such as Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge or Daufuskie Island.
Other attractions on Tybee Island include the historic lighthouse tower and its attached museum, nearby Fort Pulaski, and the Tybee Marine Science Center. The many attractions of Savannah are only around 30 minutes away by car.
