Summers in Savannah are hot and humid, with frequent rain showers and storms. Tourism to the city dips in July and August, and there are far fewer festivals and events scheduled for this time of year.
July 4th, nonetheless, is a big weekend in Savannah, with various events and fireworks displays downtown and at Tybee Island, and special Independence Day activities and demonstrations at attractions in the city and its vicinity.
