Tybee Island in July is about as crowded as the island will get, and it is especially popular with vacationing families at this time of year.
July weather is extremely hot and humid. This is usually the hottest month of the year in Tybee Island (the second hottest being August), although the worst of the heat is tempered by the breezes off the ocean and the possibility for a swim.
The highlight of Tybee Island’s July events is the annual Independence Day fireworks display. There are usually also several musical or other performances scheduled during the month, and a weekly farmers market at the Tybee Island Lighthouse.
Things to do in Tybee Island in July center mostly around the beach: swimming, sun bathing, beach games, or just relaxing in the shade of an umbrella. Other activities this month include kayak or paddle board trips into the local salt marsh, dolphin tours, excursions to nearby and much more secluded Little Tybee Island, or visits to Historic District Savannah.
During the summer, outdoor activities (including the beach) are best confined to the earlier parts of the morning and then the later afternoon, avoiding the times of day when the sun is at its hottest.
