Hotels Near Savannah Airport

Hotels near Savannah airport generally offer cheaper rates than hotels in Historic District Savannah, in addition to the convenience of being near to the airport.

Hotels positioned for proximity to the airport and the I-95, Savannah’s major transport artery to the north and south, are located within several main clusters:

  • Aviation Village, immediately adjacent to the airport, is generally the most expensive
  • West of the I-95, just outside of the airport, offers a selection of budget and mid-range rooms
  • Pooler, southwest of the airport, has more mostly budget hotels and motels
  • Port Wentworth, a few miles from the airport, generally offers the cheapest rooms

Categorised on a five point scale ($ – $$$$$), hotel prices in the vicinity of Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport fall within the lower three price brackets ($ – $$$), with the most expensive rooms in Savannah mostly located downtown, within the Historic District. Actual rates vary substantially according to the season.

Hotels near the airport range from super-budget motels on the lower end of the scale to the usual assortment of chain hotels and extended stay accommodation in the mid-range bracket, with most mainstream hotel brands represented.

Savannah Airport – Savannah Aviation Village

Accommodation at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport consists of a selection of chain hotels and extended-stay business hotels. These are the closest hotels to Savannah Airport, located within a new-built village of hotels right at the entrance to the airport.

If you need to take public transportation downtown, there is a CAT Route 3 stop on Airways Avenue, right by the hotels.

You may be able to find slightly cheaper rates on the other side of the I-95 (see below), but for the real budget rooms, look in downtown Pooler and Port Wentworth.

Savannah Airport – West Of The I-95

This area just outside of the airport offers more chain hotel rooms and extended stay suites, generally at lower rates than you will find over on the airport side of the I-95.

The rest of the area (which is not pedestrian-friendly) is dominated by mixed retail and a reasonable selection of chain restaurants.

Pooler

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay while visiting Savannah, hotels and motels in Pooler offer some of the lowest room rates in Savannah, roughly 4-5 miles from the airport and 9-10 miles from downtown Savannah.

There are a variety of fast food and chain restaurants nearby, plus one of the Savannah area’s best museums, the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force.

Port Wentworth

This section of Augusta Road, north of Port Wentworth at the intersection with the I-95, offers a selection of budget motels and chain hotels. Most of the hotels below are around 6-7 miles from Savannah Airport, and 10-11 miles from downtown Savannah.

Other Locations

A few additional budget hotels are available northwest of downtown Savannah, mostly in the Garden City area, about halfway between the airport and the Historic District.
